Napoli
Today I'm leaving Naples after having been here for 10 days. Highly authentic city with lots of things to see and do as well as ample options for daytrips. It's nice to be a tourist on occasion while travelling and Naples definitely offered that for me. Naples and the surrounding area are probably best described though as mild vibrant chaos. Others call it the Italy of Italy. Pompeii and the Vesuvius are about an hour away by crowded train. For me this city had little to do with my search for Saint Nicholas related locations and a lot kore with sightseeing. So I did mostly that. I went to Capri, Sorrento and Pompeii as well as a couple museums and parks in the city. All of them were beautiful. I also tried Neapolitan pizza's and saw Maradona murals. I was even lucky enough to see Olav Kooij win a stage of the Giro d'Italia. So I daresay I spent my time quite well. But now it is time again for new adventures. My next stop is the town of Termoli. Right on the Italian Adriatic coast again. It has a ferry service to a couple small islands, one of them named Isola San Nicola. Which sounds like a place I really wanna see. And since I am in charge of the planning I probably will.
