To Toulouse
11 juli 2024 - Givors, Frankrijk
Onto the next step of this trip. Which means it is time for another of these stories. For the past week I've been in Lyon. Beautiful town, with some great sights and places to see. But concerning public transport it does seem somewhat lacking. Luckily there's still the flixbus.
Lyon is split through the middle by two rivers, the Rhône and the Saone. Probably why it's public transport is so messy. They have at least 2 trainstations in the centre that have no direct connection together. The rivers themselves however are very goodlooking. With lots of nice bridges as well. Somewhat to the northern side there's a beautiful large park that house a small zoo and a large botanical garden, both of which are great to visit and spend some time.
The language is surprisingly easy, you start speaking bad French to them and they will quickly switch to English. That was an interesting surprise but it did make many things a lot easier. The only thing it didn't do was improve my own French sadly. I have an easier time reading an Italian menu than reading a French one. And I found that I don't often get what I expected, but that might just be a me problem. It does make going out for dinner rather interesting though.
When it comes to breakfast the French luckily understand the need for chocolate, decent cheese and meat. They do tend to insist on adding croissants or similar breads. But as far as peculiar eating habits go that's not their worst.
Today's trip is an 8hour busdrive. Nothing I can do about that, but it should make for a good night sleep once I reach Toulouse.
