Brescia
Brescia is a slightly smaller Italian town, less than an hour by train below Milan. As such it is not the most known town I've visited. It was however very beautiful and fun. The next Saint Nicholas related stop on my list is somewhere in Brittany or Normandy. So Brescia and a couple of the following stops will just be for fun and regular touristing. Brescia is great for that purpose however. It has one of the best castles in Europe as well as some really old cathedrals and other interesting places to see. The castle itself also houses one of the best medieval arms and armor collections, which are quite stunning to see. Although I have to admit that most of what I've seen this week was the European Championship at the local Irish pub. Which was equally highly entertaining. Besides, these 30 degree days do keep me looking for something cold.
I am currently on my way to Torino where I intend to spend the next two weeks. The train system in the northern part of Italy is generally a lot better than its southern counterpart. And the countryside is equally goodlooking.
